Here are some photos from last year’s Yulefest celebrations.
Visitors from Australia and all over the world travel to the Blue Mountains every June, July and August to enjoy a Northern Hemisphere style ‘Christmas in Winter’ celebration.
The idea came about over 3 decades ago when a group of Irish travelers to the Blue Mountains suggested that July would be the ideal month to host a Christmas-style festival – a month when the snow was falling all around and Australians could have the traditional Christmas fare of ham or turkey with all the traditional trimmings.
Over thirty years later and the Blue Mountains is still the destination of choice for visitors to enjoy and celebrate a White Christmas. Besides the cool crisp air and the warm hospitality of the Blue Mountains, everyone enjoys mulled wine and eggnog by the gallon, bon-bons, turkey, ham, plum pudding and mince pies, singing carols by the fire and maybe even meeting Santa. The Blue Mountains is truly a ‘Winter Wonderland’!
